About Jax

Fostered in Fairhope, Alabama, Jax is a four-year-old Great Dane with a heart and personality that fill every room. This gentle giant is fully house- and potty-trained, so the transition to a new home will be easy. Jax is working on his basic commands (he’s food- and praise-motivated), which makes him eager to learn and connect with his people. He thrives with children and other dogs, shining as a true companion for families. In fact, he gravitates toward smaller dogs, showing extra affection and playfulness. Jax’s way of communicating is clear—whether he’s in the mood for some petting, signaling mealtime or an outdoor break, or just welcoming you back after you’ve been away, he’s expressive and impossible to ignore. Jax isn’t big on personal space—he’ll stick by your side and happily turn into a living, breathing shadow. Expect to share your couch, your bed, and practically every room with him. His idea of a perfect day involves following you around, then snuggling up close once all is calm. He’s neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. Jax is being treated for heartworms with a slow-kill protocol (Doxycycline and ProHeart 12). Adopters must pick up Jax in person; NW Florida Great Dane Rescue doesn’t transport. Your new best friend is just one click away.

Questions about Jax

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Jax is a Great Dane, a breed that does best in a home where there’s plenty of space—think a house with a roomy living area. His calm indoor nature makes him adaptable to homes with good floor space, but his size means apartment living is not a great fit unless it’s particularly large.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Great Danes like Jax appreciate access to a secure yard for stretching out and some easy exercise, but they don’t require as much high-energy outdoor time as smaller, more active dogs. A decent backyard is ideal, but daily walks and companionship matter most.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Jax and most Great Danes are famously gentle with children. Their patient temperament and tendency to form strong family bonds make them great family dogs when supervised.
