Dash is a male Great Dane with an adult temperament and an extra-large build, currently fostered in Pensacola, FL. His coat is short and black, accented by beautiful undertones. He is house trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. Dash’s gentle soul shines through, and despite a challenging start in life, he is adapting well to life indoors.

About Dash

Dash started his life in rough shape—seriously underweight, battling infections, and with the scars to prove he’d spent years fending for himself. Pulled from a rural Alabama shelter, he came to his foster home with injuries, missing the tip of one ear and covered in sores. Through it all, Dash has stayed gentle and patient, and now he thrives indoors. Don’t let his impressive size fool you; at 115 pounds, this Dane wants nothing more than simple comforts and a sense of belonging. At first, Dash is reserved, preferring to quietly watch and learn before warming up. Give him a bit of time and he’ll show off his affectionate, trustworthy side—no resource guarding, no drama, no need for constant reassurance. He’s mastered house training, uses a doggy door, and respects boundaries like a pro. He loves crate time, sleeps soundly through the night, enjoys a good bath, and minds his manners with the other resident dogs. Toys are a new discovery for Dash and he dives in headfirst, shredding stuffies with joyful abandon. Dinner time still excites him, but he’s settled nicely thanks to routine meals and patient guidance. His striking black coat glimmers with hints of chestnut, especially under sunlight, and that missing bit of ear is a badge of perseverance. While Dash will always get excited about food and occasionally swipe a snack, he genuinely aims to please. He doesn’t bark much but when he does, everyone notices. He gets along with both dogs and children and adjusts well to whatever comes his way. Thoroughly vetted, neutered, and microchipped, Dash is ready to leave his hard times behind and meet the family who can promise a safe, loving home. All adopters must pick him up in person from his foster home in Pensacola, FL. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
