About Suzy
Suzy is a 7-year-old black Great Dane with a storied past and a big presence. She came from tough beginningsāneglect, hunger, illnessābut has managed to keep her royal composure and sense of humor through it all. Suzy knows she runs the show and keeps her pack in line, especially the resident Great Danes in her foster home. Sheās now discovered the joys of indoor life, and with her people, sheās a gentle affectionate soul who asks for butt scratches and head rubs. She is entirely house trained and has surprisingly good house manners for a dog her size. Out on walks, Suzy does fine on a leash, though she sometimes needs a reminder not to take charge of the whole paradeāshe responds well to a gentle leader harness. Suzyās got a bit of an explorerās heart. She canāt resist a counter surf or a scavenger hunt through trash or construction dumpsters. Sheās also a well-known escape artist, so she requires a very sturdy (6-foot) fenced yardānot negotiable. Suzy makes her feelings known; when out in the backyard, she likes to keep everyone updated on her thoughts. With other dogs, sheās best matched either as an only dog or with another calm, submissive canine who doesnāt mind her bossy streak. Sheās easy to handle for vetting and care, and pill time is a breeze when treats are involved. Suzy is spayed, current on vaccinations, and being treated for heartworm.
