Barnett
AvailableBarnett is a small, neutered male Beagle and a senior dog. He is house trained and up-to-date on vaccinations. Living in Dunnellon, FL, he’s eager for a new home that can offer him love and patience, ideally with a fenced yard for his explorations. Barnett is both friendly and social, getting along well with children and cats, although he would do best as the only dog.
About Barnett
Barnett may be a senior, but he has an energetic spirit that keeps him engaged with people and exploring his surroundings. This happy Beagle loves to roam the backyard and his tail never stops wagging! He has picked up house training well and has mastered the doggie door. Weekly obedience classes are helping him learn commands like sit and come, and he’s also doing well on a leash. Although Barnett gets excited when meeting new people, he calms down quickly and has been friendly with all the other dogs he meets during walks. However, he’d prefer to be the only dog at home. He shows some curiosity toward cats but easily redirects his attention. Barnett enjoys interacting with children and loves chasing the local wildlife like squirrels and frogs, even if he never quite catches them. He’s very food motivated, so treats and toys are great for keeping him distracted, especially when his foster mom leaves for work. While he wasn’t much of a lap dog at first, he’s warming up to the idea of snuggling and will curl up for a nap beside his foster mom. A patient and loving adoptive home might be just what Barnett needs, especially one with a fenced yard where he can explore freely. Special note: Barnett is heartworm positive and will undergo a treatment plan we’re happy to discuss with potential adopters. We want to ensure he finds a loving family who can support his health journey. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
