About Patches
Patches is a 1-year-old husky/cattle dog mix who came to the rescue after a challenging start in life. She was part of a hoarding situation where numerous husky mixes were found together. Although she spent her early months in a home, Patches struggled with trust due to limited social exposure, leading her back to the rescue after being returned. In her foster home, Patches quickly warmed up after just a few days. She's become an affectionate companion to her trusted humans, revealing a playful, silly side that shines when she's comfortable. Patches has a lot of energy and loves to run and play with her canine friends. She's making strides in learning good manners and responds well to training methods that use both verbal cues and treats. While she's making progress, her biggest hurdle remains her fear of new people. Patches tends to bark when unfamiliar faces enter her space and often prefers to hide outside the home. After attending training sessions, she's shown improvement but will need a patient family to help her feel secure around newcomers. Additionally, she experiences separation anxiety and requires a loving family that will assist her in adjusting to being alone. This sweet girl would thrive in an active home with other playful dogs and would do best with children aged 12 or older who can give her the time she needs to trust.
