Bear is a 22-month-old neutered male German Shepherd mix with a classic shepherd temperament—smart, energetic, and very protective. He’s about 80 lbs, carries the breed’s signature black and tan coloring, and has a medium coat. Bear is in overall good health and his core vaccinations are up to date. He’s generally friendly but initially barks at people coming into the home; once he settles, he becomes approachable and polite. Out on walks, Bear’s reactions to strangers vary—sometimes he welcomes attention, other times he’ll bark or growl. Bear hasn’t interacted with young children yet, so his behavior with kids is unknown. Other animals are not in Bear’s wheelhouse. He does not get along with cats or other dogs, both in and outside the home, which is the driving reason for his rehoming. If you’re looking for a single-animal companion, Bear fits the bill. Inside, Bear is house trained, has solid manners, and does well being crated for short periods if needed. Bear does great with obedience—he’s completed formal training and knows his basics. He’s a quick learner, enjoys food puzzles, fetch, and any game involving tennis balls or squeaky toys. He’s also a polite passenger on car rides as long as he gets a seat.
