About Maximus

Start your journey together! Apply now. Maximus is a loyal and affectionate 7-year-old neutered male German Shepherd Dog weighing about 85 pounds and currently seeking a new home due to his family’s worsening allergies. He is healthy overall, with his only medical concern being recurring ear infections that require regular cleaning, and his vaccinations are up to date as of July. Maximus is always alert, barking appropriately at new visitors, but he quickly relaxes after a proper introduction and is protective on walks. He does wonderfully with the young children in his home and gets along with other dogs, especially when the environment is calm—large groups of dogs can overwhelm him, but he does well one-on-one and is comfortable with small dogs. His behavior with cats is unknown. This intelligent dog is housetrained, can be left alone in the house without issue, and sleeps quietly in his wire crate at night. He has benefited from formal obedience training and responds well to commands, especially on leash, though he can be reactive to other dogs he sees. His recall is great in the yard, and his leash manners are strong with the right guidance. Maximus enjoys car rides, fetch, hide-and-seek, and playing with squeaky toys, though he prefers to stay dry and is not fond of water. He was originally taken in by his current family six years ago and has proven himself to be a devoted companion. With his friendly, protective, and playful personality, Maximus would be a loving addition to an attentive forever home. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
