About Dierdre
Dierdre is a large, 8-year-old spayed female German Shepherd mix with a calm, loyal streak. She came through a recent surgery to remove a benign mass with no complications and is spry and healthy. She’s well-mannered in the home and holds a protective presence, barking to alert but relaxing after her people give her the go-ahead. Strangers, once introduced, are often greeted with a friendly sniff and wag—she enjoys company but knows when she wants her space. Dierdre has lived peacefully alongside children ranging from 4 to 12 years old and does fine with the regular supervision you'd expect for any big dog around kids. Dog interactions are not her thing—she much prefers to be the only dog, though she can coexist by ignoring them if needed. While she hasn’t been around cats since rescue, she’s shown no prey drive toward foster chickens, so a dog-savvy cat might be acceptable. Completely house trained, Dierdre will settle indoors while her people are gone and sleeps quietly at night, preferring to stay close by her family. Walks can see her pull on leash if excited, especially near other dogs, but her recall is excellent and manageable by teens in the home. Dierdre enjoys car rides, playing gentle keep-away with toys, and being wherever her people are—more “at your feet” than wild and rambunctious. She does get mouthy if wound up but stops when told. Dierdre is currently in Pleasant Grove, CA and would thrive as the sole canine in a committed home. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
