About Ava

Ava is a striking, 1 ½-year-old spayed female German Shepherd weighing around 70 lbs. She brings a lot of energy and a confident, sometimes dominant personality. Ava greets new people with friendliness, whether that's inside the house or out on walks. She hasn’t lived with children or cats, so a home without them is ideal. Joe, her current caretaker, found her at the Woodland shelter after she'd waited there for over three months. Now, she’s in need of a new environment since she does not get along well with the resident older male shepherd. Ava has been house trained from the start and is well-mannered indoors. She’s trusted alone in the living room and sleeps at the foot of the bed. Outside, she’s still perfecting her leash skills—there’s some pulling, but she’s making steady progress. She knows basic commands like “sit” and “stay.” Car rides are a highlight for Ava; she’s calm and content in the backseat. Toys, especially squeaky ones and her favorite Kong, keep her entertained. Ava initially got along with another mellow male dog, but eventually showed some dominant tendencies that led to them being separated. She hasn't been around cats and may benefit from a single-animal home. If you’re experienced with strong, energetic German Shepherds and can give her the focused attention she needs, Ava could be a great fit. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
