About Xena
Xena is a 4-year-old Great Dane fostered in Panama City, FL, but adoptable out of Pensacola. She weighs around 130 lbs and brings the kind of energy youâd expect from a dog her sizeâthink kangaroo leaps and backyard wrestling. Xena came from a severe neglect situation, but now sheâs bonded hard with people and wants nothing more than to stick by your side, crawl in your lap, or curl up in bed if you let her. Sheâll happily sleep in her own bed, too. Sheâs housebroken, learning the basics, and has picked up routines fast. On leash, sheâs a work in progressâstill pulling sometimes, but much better than when she arrived. Off-leash in a supervised yard, she stays close and comes when called. Xena plays roughâher favorite partner is her Great Dane foster brother, but sheâs done perfectly well with other dogs after a slow, structured introduction. She also lives fine with cats. With people, Xena is loyal and affectionate. She likes adults and most children, though her size and bounciness mean toddlers arenât a great fit. Sheâd do well as a solo dog, or with a mellow male canine companion she can boss around. Xena needs a calm environment with folks who appreciate both her enthusiasm and her need for structure. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for Ehrlichia. Adoption fee is $350. All adopters must pick up in person; no transport. Sleepover trial is available, but returns go directly to the foster. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
