This big, handsome boy weighs approximately 80 pounds (and is still growing) and has just been neutered. Buster is full of playfulness and affection, surprising many with his good manners for such a young pup. He’s always excited to greet new friends and can be a bit enthusiastic at times, but quickly calms down and settles right in. Buster is especially wonderful with children, having been raised alongside five kids between the ages of 3 and 7. While his youthful exuberance might be a bit much for toddlers at first, he is quick to learn and adapt. He loves engaging with other dogs and does particularly well with playful, large canine companions. His rescuers strongly prefer a home with another young, active dog to be his playmate. Buster's experience with cats is unknown, but he may do well with a dog-savvy cat if there's already a dog in the home to help him burn off energy. This smart boy is housetrained and has not had any accidents indoors. He enjoys having access to a dog door, and while he has done a little counter-surfing and chewed a cord or two, he’s otherwise very well-behaved indoors. Buster has received little formal training but is a very quick learner and eager to please. He already knows how to sit for treats and would benefit from leash training. Car rides are a joy for Buster, who remains calm and curious in the car, and he loves swimming in the pond at his current rescue location. Buster's early life involved a lot of love but also some sudden upheaval, as his first family could not keep large dogs in their new rental home. Thankfully, he was taken in by the German Shepherd Rescue of Sacramento Valley, where he’s shown just how social, brave, and fun-loving he is.
