About Hazelnut
Hazelnut is a large, gorgeous German Shepherd with a strong personality and a lot of heart. She tips the scales around 65 lbs, sports a medium coat, and has plenty of loyal energy to share. Cuddling is her favorite pastime—she will nuzzle into your chest and soak up every bit of affection. She especially gravitates toward women but does fine with men, too. Petting is welcome, just avoid her hindquarters and groin, as she’ll gracefully move away if uncomfortable. Hazelnut is healthy, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Meeting new people? Hazelnut does best after a proper introduction. She’ll bark at strangers at first and carries a protective streak that will really flourish once she puts down roots, so she needs an experienced handler who appreciates the German Shepherd temperament. Around other dogs, she’s hit-and-miss: coexistence is possible, but her challenging play style (lots of circling and barking) doesn’t sit well with every canine companion. She respects house rules and is fully housetrained, with no accidents to her name. No cats, full stop. As for kids, she’s likely best with older ones—playful mouthing is part of her routine and not right for little ones. Hazelnut is calm and mellow inside, sticks close like a shadow, and will quickly become someone’s Velcro dog. Leash skills could use a tune-up, and you should expect dog reactivity on walks without ongoing training. She listens well to commands, crates easily, and absolutely loves swimming, car rides, and chasing the water hose.
