About Whimsey

Fostered In: Chehalis, WA Adoption Fee: $150 Vaccines: DAPP, Lepto, Bordetella Spayed, Microchipped, Dewormed, Treated for Fleas Meet Whimsey, a sweet and sensitive soul who has spent almost her entire life in rescue waiting for someone to truly see her. Whimsey is approximately 1.5 years old and actually came into rescue as just a tiny puppy, only a few weeks old. Even back then, she was always the shy one quietly hiding in the back while the other puppies explored the world around them. She has always had a very timid, submissive personality and struggled to build confidence around new people and unfamiliar situations. Before Lewis County Canine Co. officially opened, Whimsey was already being fostered by us through another rescue. Over time, we became incredibly attached to this sweet girl and understood just how much patience, consistency, and gentle support she needed to feel safe. When we opened our own rescue, we asked for Whimsey to be transferred into our care because we had multiple fosters willing to continue working with her and helping her build confidence at her own pace. Over the last year, her foster has done an incredible job helping her learn to trust and feel safe, but we have also learned something important about Whimsey - she is never going to be an outgoing, social butterfly, and that is okay. Whimsey is happiest living a quiet, predictable life. She does not want a busy home full of visitors, constant activity, or adventures out in crowded places. What she does want is simple: a calm home, a small circle of patient people, kindness, consistency, and someone willing to love her exactly as she is. Once she feels safe, Whimsey enjoys staying close to her person and quietly soaking up gentle pets and attention. She loves going for walks and does wonderfully on leash. She does okay with other dogs but does best with slow, respectful introductions. Her crate is extremely important to her because it is her safe place. Whenever she feels overwhelmed, nervous, or unsure, she chooses to retreat to her crate to decompress. Because of this, her future home will need to continue allowing her access to a crate where she feels secure. Whimsey is potty trained and thrives with routine and understanding. Whimsey has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated for DAPP, Lepto, and Bordetella, and will still need her rabies vaccine. Her adoption fee has been partially sponsored and is just $150. We are also happy to include two training sessions with All Fur Them Dog Training to help make the transition smoother for both Whimsey and her adopter if desired. We know Whimsey is not going to be everyone's ideal dog, but we also know there is someone special out there who will appreciate the quiet bond this sweet girl has to offer. She deserves the chance to finally have the happy ending she has waited so long for.
