3/25/26: Foster to adopt home needed! We were recently asked to help out with a little dog from Jefferson County whose senior owner could no longer care for her. Precious is a 7 year old Miniature Schnauzer mix ~14#, who is super sweet but has a lot of anxiety being in a new environment and boarding is starting to really stress her out. She is reportedly good with other likesized dogs and cats, but seems to really long for consistent companionship and a home. Losing her former owner has left a hold in her heart for now, that we hope can soon be filled. Are you willing to give a sweet girl a chance? If you are looking for a friendly, but a little needy, low shedding companion to spend your days with, or someone to curl up in your blanket and warm you up in the evenings, Precious might be perfect for you! Due to her small size, previous history and anxiety, foster or foster to adopt requirements are: -Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY. -Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. -Being able to bring her back to our vets office in Adams for continued vet care if needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking her to your current vet to be established. -Although she came from a home with other dogs, a meet and greet with household dogs is a must to be sure she is a good match. -Homes with children over 12 years old should be ok due to her current small size and anxiousness. -Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match. -Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet. An adoption donation of $450 is being asked for if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. She had her initial vet check, is current on vaccines and flea/tick preventative, and she has been spayed. Please help us to continue helping those that knock on our doors!
