3/14/26: Foster to Adopt Home Needed! Everyone meet one of our newest arrivals, Percy! This 10# presumed Maltese/Poodle mix boy was originally found as a stray in Louisville, KY with no owner stepping up to reclaim him. Nervous in the crowded city shelter, we were asked to help him get out. We couldn't say no. Percy takes just a minute to warm up but then is happy, bouncy and ready to please. His wiggly little stubbed tail is like a windup toy that doesn't stop. He doesn't quit moving until he feels he has sniffted all his surroundings, gotten every pet from those near him and investigated all his surroundings. This little guy is a true gem and if given the chance, wr are aure he will steal your heart, too. Percy's hair is very soft and likely low shedding, but he will need grooming to keep him looking his best. Unfortunately, his last haircut was medically needed to remove mats so it's not obvious how full his coat will be but we have included a "before" pic at the end of our post. Whether you're looking for a walking partner, couch cuddler or just best guy pal, Percy could be your bestest boy! Percy is looking for a caring and compassionate foster home to give him all the attention and loves he has been missing in the past few months. We don't think that's too much to ask, do you? Due to his small size and activity level, foster to adopt requirements are: -Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY. -Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. -Being able to bring him back to our vets office in Adams if additional care is needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking him to your current vet to be established. -Homes with children over 8 years old should be ok due to his current size and temperament. -Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure they are an acceptable match. -Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet. -Due to him being fostered with dogs previously and cat tested, he shoukd be ok with either in the home. An adoption donation of $450 is being asked for Percy if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. He had his initial vet checks, is current on vaccines, and has been neutered. All pets must be viewed in person by all family members prior to adoption; animals will not be shipped to their new homes.
