3/18/26: Foster or Foster to adopt Home Needed! We were recently asked to help out with a cruelty/neglect case from Oswego County and we knew we had to say yes. One of the dogs we took to give her a new home and new beginning is Meadow. Although we were told after the fact what her former name was, we are choosing to keep the past behind her and use the name we gave her, instead. This ~4 year old, 14# Chihuahua was in a place with over 150 animals, far too many to get the love and attention she deserved. (Go to syracuse.com to see the full story) She is a very sweet girl, but shy, as many Chi's are. This little one could use some TLC, a bit of training and a soft blanket or lap to sit on maybe while watching the afternoon soaps. She longs for companionship, a gentle touch and a clean, safe place to lay her head, maybe yours? If you may be looking for a sweet little soul to keep you warm on the couch, talk about your dreams with or just "be", Meadow needs you as much as you need her. We can't rewrite history, but we can change her future! Due to her small size and previous history, foster or foster to adopt requirements are: -Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY. -Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. DUE TO HER PREVIOUS HISTORY, WE WILL NOT ADOPT TO HER HOMES WITHOUT A VERIFIABLE VETERINARY HISTORY -Being able to bring her back to our vets office in Adams for continued vet care if needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking her to your current vet to be established. -Although she came from a home with other dogs, a meet and greet with household dogs is a must to be sure she is a good match. -Homes with children over 10 years old should be ok due to her current small size and energy levels. -Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match. -Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet. An adoption donation of $450 is being asked for if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. She had her initial vet check, is current on vaccines and flea/tick preventative, and she will be spayed and have a dental cleaning next week. Foster to adopt pets are limited to an 80 mile radius of Adams, NY and pets must be takrn to our vets office for care until adoption. All pets must be viewed in person by all family members prior to adoption; animals will not be shipped to their new homes. Dogs in the home must come to the meet and greet as well to be sure they will get along with the new pet. Veterinary reference check and adoption donation also required.
