About Missy
🐶 Basics Missy, aka Princess Miss, aka Missy Misdemeanor Elliot Age / Size: 2yo, 12lbs Surrendered in Texas after her owner passed away 💛 Personality Snapshot ● Describe in 3–5 words: low-maintenance, sweet, vigilant ● Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): Low to Moderate ● More people‑oriented or independent? People Oriented! ● How do they handle new situations? Missy is nervous when in new situations, but she acclimates quickly with reassurance! 🐕 Social & Home Life ● How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Missy is great with people and wants to meet and sniff everyone. If new people are entering the home we usually ask them to ignore her at first so she doesn’t get into the habit of jumping or charging guests (and also so she doesn’t pee from all the excitement) ● How are they with other dogs? Missy does not really trust other dogs. When out on walks she freezes at the sight of them, and does not want to interact with them. With encouragement she is brave enough to walk past them, but generally too afraid to make friends. She has gotten to know our neighbors dog who is similar in size and pretty lais·sez-faire and they greet each other but don’t really play. She’s not aggressive at all, just scared. ● Cats or other animals (if known)? She has also met the neighbors cats briefly and has a similar feeling to them as she does to dogs. ● Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: Missy has mastered the crate! It only took her a week with us to get comfortable in there. She sleeps in it at night with the door open, and when we leave the house we just put a little treat or some kibble in there and close the door and once we’re gone she doesn’t whine or bark. 🎓 Training & Manners ● Potty trained? Yes! She almost never barks, so her way of telling you she has to go out is when she puts her paw on your face/paws at you. You start to be able to read her signals once you know! ● Crate trained? New to it, but is doing well! She whines briefly when left alone, but settles within 10 mins. She will sleep in her crate overnight with the door open. ● Leash skills: Good on a leash, but is still getting used to the big city so we keep her close. She get’s spooked by sounds, shadows, people, animals, but she will keep walking with you if you keep reassuring her. She will potty right away if it’s raining, cold, or windy and generally only needs a walk around the block. ● Commands known (if any): She knows her name and whistle and will come, she knows “go to bed” means go to your crate, and knows “go lay down” 🌞 Daily Life ● Typical day with you: Breakfast (8a), morning walk, work from home (she’s GREAT - sleeps under my desk all day), afternoon potty, dinner (6p), bedtime potty (10p) ● Exercise needs: Low. 1 walk around the block and she’s content. ● Favorite activities or toys: She loves her humans more than toys. Her favorite activity is burrowing in blankets. 🌱 Growth Areas ● Anything they’re still working on? She could use more exposure to different environments to help with her anxiety. We are working on basic commands like “sit” and “stay”. ● What helps them succeed? Verbal reassurance and time to warm up to new activities 🏡 Ideal Home ● Only dog / With dog / Either: Solo! She has lived with other dogs before so it’s not a deal breaker, but she can be picky about her dog friends. She also thrives with human attention. ● Good fit for apartment living? Yes! Rarely barks. ● Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): Calm to moderate. ● What kind of adopter would be the best match? Best if you work from home or can spend a lot of time with her. She’s a people kinda girl. 💙 Foster Note She is a wonderful companion; she loves to be by your side. I’ve never met a dog who genuinely likes snuggling as much as she does. Great for someone needing a buddy. She not only looks like Dobby, she loves to steal socks! She got her “worm” nickname because she worms and squirms around in the covers while making her cozy nests. She also loves to watch the birds in the morning. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
