About Palomina

🐶 Basics • Palomina • Age / Size: 4 years, ~10lbs • Rescued in Texas 💛 Personality Snapshot • Describe in 3–5 words: Calm, sweet, happy • Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): Moderate – she’s quiet and calm at home and would be fine with a few short walks, but she also has energy to run or take a longer walk if you want. • More people‑oriented or independent? People-oriented, but not needy. She will cuddle up on you and sleep most of the day, or happily sleep alone in her bed. • How do they handle new situations? Cautiously curious – she hasn’t barked or growled once. If she seems apprehensive (like maybe if a larger dog is approaching), she’ll just linger behind me but is still curious. She is taking in all the new sights and sounds of NYC (since she just came from Texas), but she’s doing a great job. 🐕 Social & Home Life • How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Completely happy to be pet, held, etc. by anyone. • How are they with other dogs? Doesn’t seem to care too much about them – happy to say hi quickly, but doesn’t seek them out. Does not seem overly scared either. • Cats or other animals (if known)? Unknown. • Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: Happy to meet someone new and then hang out with them, or just leave them alone. 🎓 Training & Manners • Potty trained? Yes • Crate trained? No, I don’t have a crate. She will sleep in her bed or relax on the couch. She loves sleeping in my bed with me. Has been completely fine (no accidents or anxiety) when I leave her home alone. • Leash skills: She will walk quickly and efficiently – sometimes she goes behind me/weaves around and gets the leash tangled up – I think she is still learning. But she loves going on walks and I’m able to take her on a long walk in the city with no issues. • Commands known (if any): She knows how to sit if you provide a treat (takes a minute, but she’ll do it!) 🌞 Daily Life • Typical day with you: Wake up, go for a walk, eat breakfast, relax. A midday little walk. Relax at home for the rest of the day. Dinner. Evening walk. Sleep in bed with me. • Exercise needs: She has energy and is happy to walk for a while or even break into a little jog when we go outside. But at home she’s really mellow and calm, just happy to be around you and relax. • Favorite activities or toys: She doesn’t seem too interested in toys (maybe she doesn’t know how to play). Her favorite activity is going outside and observing all the new people and sounds – I can tell it’s very new to her because she gets distracted and sometimes takes a minute to focus before going to the bathroom – other times she goes right away. 🏡 Ideal Home • Only dog / With dog / Either: I think she would be happy with or without a dog. While I haven’t gotten the chance to see more extended interactions with dogs yet, she is so chill and nice that I honestly think she could adapt to anything. • Good fit for apartment living? Absolutely. • Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): I think she’d thrive in any household. • What kind of adopter would be the best match? Someone who is looking for a low maintenance, happy dog. She is so well-adjusted (and this is coming 48 hours after she got off the truck from Texas). I think she would be PERFECT for someone looking for a dog that can easily fit into their lifestyle. She can come anywhere with you (light, portable, can walk far) or can be left home alone for a bit with no accidents or issues. She is quiet (no barking or growling) and calm/lazy when home. She will attach to you easily and be obsessed with you, but she’s also fine to be pet and held by other people. She loves people and shows no fear around them. 💙 Foster Note I love everything about this dog – she is the sweetest, easiest foster I’ve had and I’m in awe of how low maintenance she is. I can see her being the best companion for anyone who is looking for a little dog that has a great personality. She makes having a dog around easy. **Palomina previously tested positive for heartworm and was treated before she left Texas** INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
