About Dahlia

3/18/26: Foster or Foster to adopt Home Needed! We would like to introduce everyone to Dahlia, a Pomeranian/Shetland Sheepdog mix ~13# (cat size) and ~2.5 years old. This bouncy, happy little girl is a transfer from Jefferson County Dog Control after her stray hold ended so we don't have a lot of information on her yet. Dahlia is a super sweet dog, VERY bouncy, VERY happy and willing to do anything for a treat. She will need work on not jumping up and not pulling on the leash as well as potty training. This little cutie keeps a constant smile on her face and doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body although she does need some reminders to not chew on fingers and hands. Although she has a little staining on her teeth, we believe she is young since she is super puppy acting and likely would be a great agility dog if someone has some time to spend training her. If you're looking for a walking partner, she could be your girl and since she is full grown, Dahlia is the perfect size for traveling on all of your adventures, too. Due to her size, age and temperament, foster to adopt requirements are: -Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY. -Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. -Being able to bring her back to our vets office in Adams if additional care will be needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking her to your current vet to be established. -Dahlia has met one cat since in our care but the cat wasn't as excited to see her and she was them so we will have to try again. -Adult homes or homes with children over 10 years old should be fine since she does like to jump up and nibble of hands and fingers at this time. -Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match. -Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet. -An active home is recommended for Dahlia due to her current activity level and those with a fenced in yard will be prioritized though it is not required as long as she gets regular leash walks. An adoption donation of $450 for Dahlia is being asked if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. She had an initial vet check, is current on vaccines, dewormings and prescription flea and tick medications and she will be spayed prior to adoption. To foster to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form To foster ONLY: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/foster-application--acbs The first step in our application process is the veterinary reference check so be sure to call your vets office first thing after applying to give permission to release information to our rescue or tour application will likely move to the bottom of our list and you may miss out on your potential adoption! -------------- Adoptions are limited to a 500 mile radius of Adams, Ny.
