About Teddy

1/25/26: Foster to Adopt Home Needed! We would like to reintroduce everyone to our 3 year old Doodles, Andy (black) and Teddy (red). We saw these boys on a rehoming site in early December stating they were going to be euthanized, if they did not find placement asap. Although they started out as house dogs, that all changed when their former owner moved in with her boyfriend and chained them outside for the previous year. She was coming back to the property once a week to feed them and check-in on them but that's all they attention they had. When that became too much work for her, she decided to have them rehomed or euthanized. We couldn't let that happen, so we put the wheels in motion to bring them to New York in hopes of finding them the home that they deserve. Andy & Teddy went in to foster right after they arrived. The fosters have been putting a lot of time in to their care but have found them to be surprisingly loving and docile dogs despite what they have been through. When asked how they have been doing, they said "they are adorable dogs who love attention and activity. They show no signs of aggression, but can get into the trash or slippers if not stored away. They have only been exposed to 16 yrs and older children, but have done well. They would probably do fine with teenagera in general. They both respond very well to commands for no, down and come, with encouragement. They love walks, but are still adjusting to the cold. They would do best in a fenced in yard where they could safely run and play, in addition to having walks. They are currently fed separately so that Andy has a chance to eat. Teddy will gobble up all the food if given a chance. Neither dog likes to be too confined and have caused only minimal issues when left alone in the house. They love car rides and will share a large crate at night, but only if the door is open. Andy & Teddy both rest, love belly rubs, and chill nicely when tired, in tandum. They are very motivated by treats (thrown in separate directions, so Andy can get one). Neither dog seems to shed, but as with most doodles, they will need regular grooming every 6- 8 weeks. They will make any active home very happy and we are sure they will rescue you just as much as you think you are rescuing them! The boys do take a little time to warm up to people and situations. They will likely need time to adjust in their next home as well. A family that can provide some home time with them initially, letting them settle in slowly rather then wanting them to be instantly comfortable will be the best family for them. It is amazing to think how far they have come in such a little time and how forgiving they have been to humans despite how poorly they were treated. The boys do everything together so they need to be placed as a bonded pair. Having each other to lean on should make a transition into a new home a lot easier for the both of them. They have been groomed, examined, vaccinated, started on prescription flea and tick and heartworm preventative, 4dx tested amd neutered. A reduced adoption donation of $800 for the pair is being asked to cover a portion of their veterinary and care fees (this is $100 off of our regular adoption fees). Due to their age, size and activity levels, ideal foster to adopt family's would: -Be living within 80 miles of Adams, NY. -Have previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. -Be able to bring them back to our vets office in Adams if additional care will be needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking them to your current vet to be established. -Have another social dog in the home should be ok, but they will likely need a meet and greet or two to acclimate them first. -Have children over 12 years old due to their current size and activity level. -Be willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match. -Have time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet. -Applicants with a fenced yard will be prioritized, though it is not a requirement. These boys have done everything together, lifelong so they are being placed as a bonded pair.
