About Petunia
Petunia is a thoughtful Rottweiler who has weathered a rough start. She was one of many dogs raised in the quiet of the pandemic, affectionate in the security of home but uncertain with the outside world. After winding up stray, possibly spooked by fireworks, she landed in a shelter where her gentleness and potential saved her life. Since then, Petunia has been making steady progress in foster care—she’s crate trained, knows her basic commands, and finds comfort playing fetch or hanging out with her male canine foster sibling. Still, the big world can overwhelm her, and strangers make her nervous. Petunia adjusts more quickly now, but she’ll need continued socialization and someone willing to go at her pace. Her future home will need to be all-adult, no children or cats, and owners must be invested in ongoing training. A like-sized dog companion might be welcome, but she thrives with clear structure and a secure, visible fence (no electronic or underground fencing; a wood or similar barrier is a must). Apartments aren’t a match—Petunia needs a yard to run, play, and feel safe. She’ll require a sturdy, escape-proof crate (wire or soft-sided won’t cut it). Adoptions are limited to Washington and possibly Northern Oregon, with meet-and-greets in Kitsap County. Petunia is spayed, vaccinated, and ready for the right adopter to help her bloom. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.

Questions about Petunia
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Rottweilers like Petunia thrive in homes with ample space, ideally with a securely fenced yard. They do best in environments where routines are stable and owners are committed to structure and training.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Given her size and energy, Petunia will benefit from a yard where she can safely play and exercise. Small patios or apartments are generally not ideal for Rottweilers.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
While many Rottweilers can be good family dogs, Petunia is not currently suited for homes with children as she is still nervous and adjusting to the world outside of her foster environment.
