Savannah is a beautiful 3-year old female American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on August 8, 2025 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who had picked her up on Washington Boulevard in Belpre Ohio. Savannah was accompanied by a good-looking male Australian Shepherd (Cowboy). Neither of the pair were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Savannah has a white short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with brown eyes, a black button nose, and short semi-erect ears. Savannah has a large black eyebrow over her right eye. She must have been apprehended by the Deputy Sheriff before she had a chance to apply her second eyebrow. We had taken first photos of Savannah on August 11th in her floor crate, and she was a very frightened girl after finding herself in an unfamiliar place with so many other dogs around and people that she did not yet realize were her new best friends .. And who could blame her? Savannah and Cowboy had a lot to talk about when they entered our shelter and voiced their concerns to whomever was nearby and would listen .. Perhaps they were trying to tell us where they lived or explain how they happened to be taking a stroll on Washington Boulevard without their collars/id tags. Savannah weighed 46.4 lbs on August 8th 2025 In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Savannah was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surprisingly, nobody called or came looking for her (or her companion Cowboy. Since Cowboy was not reclaimed (and was already neutered), he found a new home rather quickly and was adopted on October 5th 2025. Since she was not reclaimed, Savannah was spayed on October 2, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. These updated photos of Savannah were taken on October 11th 2025 when HSOV Volunteer Miley Kiggans gained Savannah's trust and accompanied her for outdoor glamour photos. Savannah was still a bit apprehensive about the paparazzi and this photo thing, but she instinctively knew that while Miley by her side it would turn out ok. Savannah is a beautiful girl who posed beautifully for her new pictures. She chose to 'sit pretty' in several photos and later had the confidence to try other poses .. But the one which melted our photographer's heart was when Savannah gently put her paws on Miley's legs to politely ask for some loving attention (and naturally Miley quickly responded to the request). It may take Savannah awhile to warm up to new people but she will let you know when she trusts you and is ready to become your friend.
