Sugar Pie is an Akbash/Anatolian Shepherd mix living in Whitewright, TX. She’s still young and is expected to reach extra-large size, possibly 90-100 lbs as an adult. Sugar Pie is playful with other dogs and dog-savvy cats, has been spayed, and has grown up comfortable with livestock. While she remains a bit shy with strangers, she opens up with time and trust.

About Sugar Pie

Sugar Pie came into rescue at around 4 months old after being born on a ranch to working livestock guardian parents. Her earliest days were rough—in addition to being unsocialized, she battled a serious case of parvo. Hospitalization was tough but oddly helped her open up, and now Sugar Pie seeks out treats and affection from those she trusts. She’s still shy with newcomers, but she’s loosened up considerably and enjoys attention from her people. Around other dogs, she’s lively and playful, and she’s shown she can coexist with barn cats without trouble. Sugar Pie is well accustomed to goats, having grown up with both Boer and Nigerian Dwarf goats, and she respects their boundaries thanks to plenty of firsthand ranch experience. For a working home, Sugar Pie needs to be teamed with an adult livestock guardian dog, given her age and development. She’ll be a very large dog—her last vet trip had her at 80 lbs and she may reach 90-100 lbs fully grown. Sugar Pie is waiting in Whitewright, TX, for someone ready to offer patience and a secure, stimulating environment. Your new best friend is just one click away.
