About Thunder

Meet Thunder, a 13-year-old, 68-pound black Labrador Retriever who is looking for a warm and loving home to enjoy his senior years. Thunder was initially brought to the Yolo County shelter for euthanasia, but the kind-hearted staff believed he deserved a second chance. They reached out for help, and now he’s part of our rescue program. Thunder’s journey hasn’t been easy. Upon arrival, he was treated for a large ear hematoma, an ear infection, and severe flea dermatitis. Thanks to the great care from our medical team, he is now on the mend. This friendly dog is a bit wobbly but remains curious and engaged. He happily explores on walks, often stopping to check in with people rather than other dogs. After being an outside dog, he enjoys being indoors where he can relax and feel safe. While Thunder is still learning what it means to be a house dog, we’re not sure if he’s house-trained yet. A gentle home with fewer steps would be best for him, along with some 15-minute walks to keep him active. Thunder is neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. He’s in San Francisco, CA, and would love a cozy spot in a foster home where he can finish out his golden years. Help Thunder find the peace and comfort he deserves. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
