About Teddy
Teddy is a 7-year-old Golden/Lab mix with a gentle heart and a resilient spirit, located in San Francisco, CA. He came to rescue after being surrendered by his previous owner, arriving underweight and in need of a soft place to land. Teddy has been diagnosed with megaesophagus, which means he needs to eat upright in a custom-built Bailey Chair and sticks to 4–5 small prescription meals per day. He’s currently on a trial of sildenafil to support his health, and his feeding routine will need to be a dedicated part of his daily life. Despite his challenges, Teddy’s temperament shines. He’s smart, sensitive, and quick to learn new commands like sit, stay, and come. He loves cuddling and is happiest when he can be close to his people—lap time is a favorite. Teddy enjoys basking in the sun, playing fetch or with puzzles, going on walks, and keeping the backyard clear of squirrels. He is house trained, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Teddy gets along with children but needs a home without other dogs where his boundaries with food can be respected. He can be a bit possessive about high-value treats or snacks, preferring to be left alone if he manages to snatch something off the counter. Teddy needs an adopter who will treat his feeding routine as a bonding experience, not a burden, and will make him a true part of the family, not just an outdoor dog. Once the rhythm is set, Teddy's routine blends in, and he offers plenty of love and devotion in return. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Teddy
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Teddy, being a Golden Retriever/Labrador mix, generally thrives in a home with regular companionship and a comfortable indoor environment. He does best as a core member of the family rather than being left outdoors.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A large breed like Teddy benefits from having a yard to roam in or regular access to outdoor space for walks and playtime, but his special needs make supervised time more important than wide-open access.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Teddy’s mix is usually great with children, and Teddy himself does well with kids. However, because of his feeding routine and food boundaries, a home with respectful children is best.
