Maverick is a large, altered male dog who is house trained and has a wonderful temperament. He is playful and loving, with a background of living harmoniously with children and other animals. Located in Fairbanks, AK, he has a lot of energy and needs an active owner who can provide him with the exercise he thrives on.

About Maverick

Meet Maverick, a 4-year-old catahoula mix who weighs over 60 lbs. This handsome guy has a loving nature but can be shy and nervous in new situations. Due to circumstances beyond his control, he was brought to the shelter, but he’s ready to find a patient home where he can come out of his shell. Maverick has lived with children aged 4 to 7 and did wonderfully. He also gets along well with other dogs, cats, and even chickens and ducks! Maverick loves to cuddle and is gentle, friendly, and affectionate when he trusts his people. He can be vocal and has a lot of energy, so access to a fenced backyard or an active owner for canicross would be ideal. His previous family provided him with a kennel, which offers him a safe space, and he is both kennel-trained and housebroken. Maverick knows basic commands like sit, lay down, and come, but he does have some separation anxiety that becomes apparent without enough exercise and enrichment.
