He weighs around 63lbs and currently resides in a foster home in Houston, TX, ready for transport to his forever home once an approved adopter is found. Ernie was rescued after being spotted running through busy traffic. His foster mom acted quickly to save him, and though he was microchipped, his previous owner decided not to reclaim him. This gentle soul is great with everyone he meets, and he clearly yearns for companionship. Despite his age, Ernie has a playful spirit and loves going for walks or joining in on playdates. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes and has even let a smaller dog boss him around. Ernie hasn’t met any children yet but is known to be incredibly gentle, which suggests he would fit right in with families. While he exhibits some curiosity about cats, he’s not aggressive and seems to just want to say hello. Ernie is house trained and walks nicely on a leash, although he’d prefer not to be crated. When left alone, he’s not destructive and settles down with some encouragement. He craves human interaction and is happiest when he’s by your side.
