About Leonidas
Meet Leonidas, affectionately known as Leo, a striking dog ready to take charge in his new home. Approximately three years old, this energetic boy weighs 20 pounds and benefits from being neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Despite being identified as a Pomeranian mix, he might have some Keeshond or Spitz in his lineage. Leo initially struggled in the shelter environment but quickly blossomed into a sweet and happy companion in his foster home. He’s well on his way with training and enjoys car rides without any issues. Though his leash walking is limited due to the heat, he’s crate trained and happily retreats to his kennel when he needs a break. While he is fully potty trained, he does sometimes mark inside, particularly in areas where there are other animals. His ideal home will keep him busy and mentally stimulated with toys, games, and training sessions. Leo thrives as an alpha dog and would do best in a household where he can be the primary pet or with submissive dogs after careful introductions. He’s likely better suited for families with older children, given his sensitivity to new experiences and young kids. He hasn’t been around cats but shows a lot of excitement when encountering bunnies, so he may chase smaller animals. Very vocal, Leo barks at noises, and while this playful behavior can be charming, potential adopters should be prepared for his enthusiastic personality. Maintaining his long coat requires regular brushing; if that’s not feasible, he might not be the right match. Overall, Leonidas is a loyal, loving companion who just needs a bit of time to adjust and will then be your constant shadow. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and let’s get started!
