About Dove In Sc

This sweet Great Pyrenees girl is living proof that resilience and joy go hand in hand! Dove came to us after being hit by a car in South Carolina and rescued from a high-kill shelter. She underwent multiple major hip and leg surgeries, and while she walks with a gentle limp and takes life at a slower pace, she does so with a permanent smile on her face. We expect her mobility to continue improving, and we're just so grateful we were able to save her leg — and give her the second chance she deserves! She has a beautiful medium-length, flat, silky coat and the calm, steady temperament to match. She's fully housebroken, leash trained, and crate trained, with lovely house manners and a reliable recall. Because of her surgeries, she doesn't jump and moves more slowly than most dogs her age — which honestly just makes her the perfect laid-back companion! She'll need a couple of short daily walks (about half a mile), and would do best in a home without a lot of stairs. She's also a great car buddy, though she does best with a vehicle that has a large door and floor area, like a minivan, so she can get in and out comfortably. Speaking of going places — Dove LOVES an outing! Take her to the office, to Lowe's, or just around the neighborhood and she is in her element, soaking up the sights and happily accepting pets from anyone who offers. She won't push for attention, but she lights up when she gets it. At home, she's happiest simply being near her people — sleeping at your feet, keeping watch at the foot of your bed at night, or quietly patrolling the house to make sure everyone is safe. And yes, she does have one important daily task: announcing from her post by the back door when the other dogs need to come inside! Dove gets along wonderfully with both male and female dogs and has lived peacefully with two cats — she's completely unbothered by them, even when they try to play with her tail. She's also comfortable around kids, allowing them to pet her, but not particularly interested in whether they do or not. Dove would thrive with a moderately active family who will love having a calm, devoted companion by their side. She can do well as an only dog or with furry siblings, in a home with a fenced yard (at least 4.5 feet) or as a leash-walk-only girl. Wherever she lands, she will bring quiet joy, steadfast loyalty, and that beautiful Pyr smile every single day. Dove is resilient, and quietly joyful — she truly exudes happiness wherever she goes. Could she be your PYR-fect match? NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
