*New video 5/16* Salle ACCT-A-249792 is a 3-year-old female that was brought in by APOs on 5/9. Salle has been nervous & conflicted in our care, and has shown special aversion to medical handling. However, after a slow approach & some time given, Salle will warm up and has allowed gentle pets from staff! She especially opens up after dog interactions & has made several dog friends. I dropped some treats multiple times and she ate them with a wagging tail and went back to hard barking. I took another dog out, then went back to her, as I just wanted to make sure that her barking was excitement which it indeed was! When I put the leash near her head, she remained loose with a wagging tail and easily allowed me to leash her. In the play yard she was shy for like the first minute and took some time to explore around. When I went to hand her l a treat, she crouched to the ground as if she was scared. So I tossed her a few treats and then just kneeled on the ground away from her and she came over and melted right into my lap. Took pets for me and leaned into me and gave me kisses with a loose Body. She had a great couple of dog meets, including a drop leash meet with a small dog Monte. Really sweet girl who is opening up! Per staff on 5/13: "Dog intake asked if we could assist getting Salle checked in. We used a double leash and lots of food. For the second vaccine she did do head whip with a closed mouth and then moved away. Heavy panting with wide eyes, however she did continue to eat and get her fully checked in." Per staff on 5/13: "Kennel Presentation: At the front of the kennel with wide eyes, ears back and barking. I offered a treat and her tail was now mid/wagging. Leash Skills: since she was right at the front of the door, I tossed some treats to move her away to get the door open and leash in the kennel. When leash was presented she went and sat on the bed. Need a treat lure to leash and then she came right out of the kennel. Ears forward tail down not moving and eyes darting. Sociability: Allowed gentle and slow petting. Outside she immediately went to the bathroom. Gentle taking treats. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met Pulitzer and Max. Pulls hard towards them with loose wiggly body. Return to Kennel: Walked right into kennel and I removed leash with hand. Color Level: Blue" Per staff on 5/12: "attempted check in by medical staff member: she gave me very weird mixed signals, she was definitely aroused when I started to approach her and was hard barking right at the front of her kennel where I was standing, I put my hand in-front of her nose, she sniffed and licked it, but then continued hard barking again, I walked away to get a treat to see if she would take it from me and I was successfully able to give her a cheese slice by hand piece-by-piece, and she took it very gently." Per staff on 5/11 about dog meet: "Loose, wiggly, curious and social" Per staff on 5/11: "At the front of her kennel, whale eyes, hard barking, ears back. Took treats gently. Needed a treat lure to leash. Once leashed took some encouragement to come out with some baby talk and moving to give her space. Once out walked with a tense body, head low, tail low, ears back. Outside her tail started to untuck, body loosened up a little and her eyes were softer. She would take treats from our hands but not the ground. Tolerated touching her back with my leash. When touching with hand, tail tuck and lip lick. Met Vorden, loose and wiggly, play bows. After the dog meet she came over to me and jumped up gently with soft eyes, ears back, loose body. I clipped my leash to return and she walked back with a low head, tail tucked ears back and hopped right into kennel."
