About Gouda
Meet Gouda, a sweet gray pit bull mix who’s somewhere around 10 years old and looking for a home to enjoy her golden years. She landed in the Philadelphia shelter system after being found tied to a tree last November, but her affectionate, laid-back personality quickly made her a shelter favorite. Gouda’s got an unforgettable look with her velvety short coat and soft neck wrinkles—and a comforting presence that’s half dog, half couch manatee. She melts into laps, offers sleepy snuggles, and will turn you into her favorite napping spot. Expect gentle chin kisses, maybe even a little nibble now and then. Gouda thrives on a predictable routine. She’s house trained, crate trained ("kennel!" does the trick), and rarely has accidents—she’ll let you know when she needs to go outside. While she enjoys bouncing around with stuffed toys, she keeps her play sessions short, quickly returning to nap mode. Because she can get a tad mouthy during play, she’s best with older or dog-savvy kids. She gets along with most dogs, though she’s a bit leash-reactive and could use continued confidence-building on walks. Gouda isn’t a fit for homes with cats or small animals. Health-wise, she’s spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and takes daily medication for arthritis. Recent surgery and dental work have her feeling better than ever. Gouda will thrive in a mellow, loving home that appreciates a low-key, affectionate companion. Ready to make Gouda’s retirement years her happiest yet? Click apply to start the adoption process.
