About Gouda
Lets make it official, apply to adopt! Gorgeous Gouda is a stunning gray, short-coated pit bull terrier mix, estimated to be about 10 years old. Once found tied to a tree in Philadelphia, she captured the hearts of both shelter staff and volunteers with her smooshy, affectionate, and laidback personality. This former mama dog is hoping to spend her golden years in a loving retirement home where she’ll never have to face homelessness again. Now thriving in foster care, Gouda has transformed into the ultimate couch companion with velvety gray fur and endearing neck wrinkles—a real-life, house manatee! She enjoys snuggling on laps, acting as your personal weighted blanket, and showering you with chin kisses. Playful yet gentle, Gouda adores carrying and destuffing her soft toys, though her bursts of play are brief before she settles in for a cozy nap. Because she can occasionally get bouncy and a bit mouthy during playtime, she’d do best with older or dog-savvy children. Gouda has a history of positive dog interactions but can be reactive on-leash in foster care, so her future family should help her gain confidence and navigate walks or stressful situations, perhaps with calming support as needed. She’s too interested in cats and small animals to live peacefully with them. Fully crate trained, Gouda listens to the command "kennel!" and is doing well with housebreaking—she’ll even let you know when she needs to go outside. She’s seeking a low-key home that wants a sweet, loving dog who cherishes people but doesn’t demand too much. Gouda manages some mild arthritis with daily medication and has bounced back beautifully from a surgery to remove mast cell tumors (with clean margins!) as well as a much-needed dental cleaning. She still enjoys hopping onto the couch and managing stairs with ease. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and more than ready to start her next chapter with a family who’ll treasure her. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
