Despite experiencing severe neglect early in life, including confinement and deprivation alongside his siblings, Scooby has blossomed into a loving and gentle soul while in foster care. Now estimated to be about 4 to 5 years old, this extra-large, short-coated tan Great Dane is the epitome of a gentle giant. In a few weeks, he has transformed into a joyful and affectionate companion, often leaning into you for attention and affection—his signature move guaranteed to melt your heart. Scooby delights in the outdoors, whether zooming around the yard, playing with toys, or enjoying a splash in the pool and a drink from the hose. He has truly begun to make up for lost time, discovering new joys each day. Living with other Great Danes in his foster family, he quickly bonded with his canine companions and enjoys both their company and the option to be the only dog soaking up all your love. Scooby is fully potty trained, has wonderful house manners (even if his long legs let him glance at your counters now and then), and is very food motivated, making ongoing training easy. After learning food will never be scarce again, he now eats calmly and shows no signs of food aggression. While occasionally startled by loud noises, Scooby seeks reassurance rather than panics, preferring to stay close to his person. He walks beautifully on a leash, has excellent recall in the yard, and truly wants to connect with his people. Scooby enjoys meeting new dogs, looks to canine buddies for confidence, and has no interest in chasing small animals. Due to his affectionate nature and large size, a home without very young children may be best, but he gets along well with older children and adults alike. He prefers not to be crated, understandably, but is trustworthy loose in the home. Scooby is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Every day he becomes more confident, eager for the next chapter in a loving home. His adoption fee is $350.
