Dean
AvailableDean is a small, adult male Cocker Spaniel with a soft medium-length yellow and tan coat. He is house trained, neutered, and has vaccinations up to date. Dean is currently in Sherman Oaks, CA and is looking for a patient home where he can build his confidence.
About Dean
Dean landed at Camp Cocker Rescue with his two littermates after a loving but overwhelmed family realized they could no longer keep up with their healthcare needs. At nine years old, Dean is still getting his bearings—he missed out on a lot of early socialization, so city streets, strangers, and noisy spots all feel new to him. His world has been small: home and siblings, mostly. Now, he’s clean but still sporting a bit of a shaggy look while he unwinds and decompresses. Dean thrives when he’s around dogs who are calm and comfortable facing the world. He takes their cues and gains confidence, making him a great match if you already have a steady, experienced dog in your home. With people he knows, Dean’s gentle, sweet nature comes out naturally. He needs some patience with new things and new faces, but he has all the makings of a loving companion for someone willing to help him blossom beyond his sheltered start. This is a dog ready for a fresh chapter, and he just needs the right support to get there. Start your journey together! Apply now.

Cocker Spaniels like Dean typically adapt well to both apartments and houses when they have regular company and engagement. He'd benefit from a stable, calm household, especially given his sheltered start.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Dean and his fellow Cocker Spaniels don't need a huge yard, but they do appreciate daily walks and time outside for stimulation and exercise.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Most Cocker Spaniels are gentle and affectionate, but since Dean is a bit tentative and used to quiet, he'd do best with respectful, dog-savvy children or an adult household.
