When I enter a new space, I usually prefer to explore the room or head outside to take it all in at my own pace. Too much attention too quickly can overwhelm me, and I might become avoidant if I feel pressured. The best way to win me over is simple: sit down, relax, and let me decide when I'm ready. I need a little time to build trust because consistency hasn't always been part of my life, but once I start feeling comfortable, you'll see my soft side begin to shine. Even though I don't always know how to handle affection, I truly want it - I just need help learning what to do with all those feelings. After a while, I'll slowly inch closer, sometimes trying to crawl right into your lap so I can be as close to you as possible. I'm not very motivated by treats, toys, or food; what I really crave is gentle praise and being told I'm a good girl when I'm ready to receive it. I would thrive with an active, adventurous family who will give me patience, reassurance, and the chance to grow at my own speed. My adoption fee of $225+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society. All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption.
