I'm Rocky - a 36-pound Terrier mix with a sensitive heart and a gentle soul that's still learning the world can be a safe place. The shelter has been pretty overwhelming for me, and I can be very nervous and on edge when I first meet new people or find myself in unfamiliar situations. I like to take things slow while I figure everything out, quietly sniffing around and observing before deciding it's okay to relax. I'm not the kind of guy who rushes into new friendships, but if you give me a little patience, space, and understanding, you'll start to see my curiosity peek through. Once I realize I can trust you, my whole personality starts to shine! I warm up into a playful, spunky boy who bows down with excitement and zooms around when happiness takes over. I absolutely love affection, and before long I'll lean into you, soak up your attention, and even roll over to ask for belly rubs once I feel safe. I bond deeply with my person and really look to them for comfort and reassurance, so I'm hoping for a calm, patient home that will give me time to decompress and allow slow introductions while I adjust. Beneath my shy beginnings is a very sweet, loving companion who just wants someone to help me feel safe enough to be my joyful, affectionate self every day.
