About Hector In Oh

Meet Hector - the brilliant, big-hearted Great Pyrenees puppy mixed with Cattle Dog and a few other herding breeds - and his personality is just as impressive as his lineage. He’s an incredibly smart, observant boy who learns by watching and loves copying his Pyr foster sister, from bedtime routines to where he plops himself down. If she does it, Hector probably will too. He’s a big fan of toys (seriously - ALL the toys) and carefully chooses the right one for the moment. He plays fetch, naps like a pro (sunny deck naps are his favorite), and always goes to sleep with a toy nearby. Hector is crate trained, does well with routine, walks on a leash - sometimes proudly carrying it himself - and is doing great with potty training. This young pup has a classic herding‑dog brain paired with Pyrenees instincts: he’s thoughtful, alert, and naturally protective of his space and family. Playful, and full of personality, Hector will thrive with an active family that understands large, intelligent working breeds, and has a 5’ securely fenced yard. He would do best with older, respectful children, another confident dog (especially one he can learn from and play with), and dog‑savvy cats. If you’re looking for a loyal, clever, and entertaining companion who will grow into a devoted family guardian with a playful streak, Hector may be your perfect match. NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
