Meet Michelle 4 years old • Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Michelle is the kind of dog who makes a house feel peaceful the moment she walks in. Quiet, gentle, and incredibly affectionate, her favorite place in the world is wherever you are — especially if that includes a lap. She loves to be held and will happily settle beside you on the couch, at your desk, or quietly at your feet while you move about the house. Michelle isn't a high-energy dog looking for constant activity. Instead, she offers something many people are truly searching for: steady companionship. Calm, loyal, and always close by. Her story almost ended before it had the chance to begin. Michelle was surrendered from a puppy mill to a veterinarian for euthanasia after a “tilt” was noticed in her ear — something often associated with vestibular syndrome. Rather than seek treatment, the mill chose to discard her. Thankfully, she was rescued before that could happen. Michelle was evaluated at The Ohio State Veterinary Hospital, where specialists performed a myringotomy to release fluid in her ear. She has recovered beautifully. While it's possible the tilt could return in the future, she is currently doing very well. She also has a grade 3 luxating patella in one knee. At this time it requires no treatment, though as she ages she may need medication for comfort or, in some cases, surgery. None of this slows Michelle down. Her days are filled with the things she loves most: being close to her people, enjoying ear scratches, and quietly keeping you company. Michelle currently lives in a foster home with two adults and two children (ages 8–10). She has run of the house when her family is away and is doing great with house training. Because Michelle loves her person so much, she would do best as the only dog in the home. She can coexist with other dogs, but prefers not to share the human lap or attention. If you're looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will happily follow you from room to room and curl up beside you at the end of the day, Michelle may be the perfect match. Sometimes the best dogs aren't the loudest or the busiest. Sometimes they're the quiet ones who simply want to be right beside you.
