Meet Leeson, a 6-year-old charmingly clumsy male Doberman who is ready to find his forever home. At his core, Leeson is a "super sweet" soul who prioritizes companionship above all else. While he loves to be in the same room as his people, he isn't your typical "velcro" Doberman; he values his personal space just as much as yours, making him a balanced partner for a relaxed household. He is a social butterfly who plays beautifully with other dogs, including the little ones, and he possesses a rare, low prey drive that makes him a true gentleman. Adventure is Leeson's middle name, provided the weather is right. He is a dream on a leash when using a gentle leader and loves his daily strolls, though his new family should keep his joint health in mind and cap walks at about two miles. If the temperature dips below 40 degrees, you'll find him much less enthusiastic about the outdoors—he’s a fair-weather fan who prefers a warm blanket over a cold breeze. When it’s time to head home, he rides perfectly in a car crate and settles in for the night on a plush pillow right by your bed. Leeson is "exceptionally" food motivated, which is a double-edged sword. While his love for snacks makes him eager to engage, he can be quite stubborn during training sessions. He is currently on a weight loss journey and will need a dedicated owner to keep him on track so he can feel his best. Inside the house, he isn’t destructive to furniture, but soft toys and blankets don't stand a chance against his shredding skills. His new owners will need to be super vigilant about counter surfing, he's a stealthy ninja who snatches anything within his reach. While he is crate trained, Leeson does have a bit of a dramatic streak. He will let out a soulful howl if he knows you’re home while he’s in his crate, and he’ll certainly let the neighborhood know he "disapproves" of nail trims. Bath time is a tolerated necessity rather than a hobby for him. Leeson is a total sweetheart who just needs a little help staying on track with his diet and a steady supply of sturdy chew toys. He is best suited for a home with older children and, with a proper introduction, may even be happy to share his space with a feline friend.
