About Raton
Raton will be at our St. Pawtrick's Day Meet & Greet at the Refinery Hotel on March 14 from 12–3 PM. Please note that there will be no on-site adoptions at the event, and all adoption applications will be reviewed and processed afterward. Raton is a 4 old, 14-lbs, male chihuahua mix from Tijuana. He has adjusted very well during his time in the city, and thrived when visiting the suburbs. Raton enjoys chewing his cheese bone, cuddles galore, and playing fetch. He arrived knowing how to sit, offering his paw, and high fiving with both paws, walking on his hind legs, and is doing well working on other obedience training. During his time with his foster family, he seems to be housetrained, and is quite considerate on his leash, adjusting his pace and looking out for his walker. While he sometimes startles from crowds or people behind him, is improving each day as he gains confidence in his new surroundings. He is comfortable around women but may need more time and encouragement to warm up to men. He is also comfortable with all handling, including getting his nails clipped, brushing his teeth, and getting a bath! Raton is an eager to please, sweet, and playful dog. His forever family will need to continue working with Raton to reinforce and advance the progress he's been making. Raton is very loyal to his people and wants to be touching most of the time. He is working on crate training, and settles down after a little bit if given plenty to chew on. He also sleeps beautifully through the night as long as he's touching his person. He has handled short car rides and three hour road trips well, settling in and dozing. He loves to sit right next to his person and can often be found digging around in his favorite burrito treat toy. Raton is looking for a moderately active family who can play with him. He appreciates downtime and lively moments, alternating between the softest snuggles and energetic tugs of war with his toys. Raton has been tested as dog friendly. He has not been tested around children or cats. We would recommend Raton go to a home who's ready to give him lots of love, attention, and focused training. Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention. To apply to adopt Raton, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies.
