About White
White ACCT-A-242899 is a 1-year-old female that came in as an owner surrender due to too many animals on 2/11. Owner noted that she is "full of energy, clingy, and playful. She is high energy and mostly housebroken. She will not walk on leash. She reacts fine to strangers and other dogs, and well to children & cats!" White has been hesitant to meet new people at the shelter, but she's being brave! White love treats- the way to her heart! She'll gladly take them from you- so gently! Videos: White & Ms Sniff Meet: https://youtu.be/j2Y-mhLt7ZI Bunbun & White: https://youtu.be/lZT-7SwB3z8 Behavioral: Volunteer 2/21: I really enjoyed my time outside with winter. She was hesitant to get leashed when I approached kennel but would move towards the door opening to come out. I leashed with a treat. Once walking, she did remain tail tucked (almost entire time outside). I let her get used to things outside in dog run and she would come over for treats. I started to play 'find it' and would scatter treats, which got her to untuck tail and happily chase treats. She picked up/sniffed a few toys but didn't engage in play. Per staff on 2/16: "Kennel Presentation: White was in the middle of the kennel with wide eyes, ears to the side, tail down. Leash Skills: Used a treat lure to leash up. Head was low, ears were back and tail was low. Walking through the kennels, ears were pasted back, eyes were darting and tail was tucked. White would stop and would keep moving when treats were thrown on the ground. Sociability: Asocial and avoidant. Tail was tightly tucked tail, ears pasted back, tight mouth, lip licking. Food motivated, would start to approach to take treats when thrown on the ground, stopped short of her handler when treat was in their hand. When attempting handling, slightly touched her shoulder, her skin crawled and she walked away. Play: Rolled a ball towards her, she sniffed it and ignored it. Dog Interaction: Met Ms. Sniff, ears were back, tail tucked and avoided eye contact. Ms Sniff approached her and she sniffed her then backed away. Return to Kennel: Went right into kennel. Leash was clipped prior to entering kennel and was removed easily. Color Level: Blue Recommendations and considerations: GO slow, food motivated, use lots of high value treats. She needs time to decompress in a home. Can be foster eligible in experienced foster home due to good owner notes." Per staff on 2/14: "Placed calming collar on. Used food to lure towards me and placed on while eating food off the floor. Ears to the side, tail down, soft eyes, backed up slightly when going Over her head" Per staff on 2/12: "Needed a food lure to leash- head low, backing up, lip licks. Tail down and still Walked with a tucked tail, eyes darting and slinking walk. Outside began whining and pushing to get through the gate, exit searching. Back inside, approached every door exit searching. Refusing offered treats. Easy to return to kennel" Medical: On 2/19, White was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) and started on medication. Per intake exam on 2/11: "Weight: 44.9 lbs BCS: 4 - Lean Assessment: - flaky coat/skin - bar (bright, alert, responsive)" ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
