She’s lived through adversity and come out the other side with resilience.

About Mantis

Mantis had a big day today. She was so sure she’d finally found her family—the one she’s waited so long for—only for it not to work out through no fault of her own. The resident dog just wasn’t comfortable sharing a home, so Mantis is back at the rescue waiting her turn again. She’s survived more than most: starving, fighting for life, and beating the odds when she came from ACCT Philly. She’s overcome so much, but has been overlooked every step of the way—no matter how hard she tries. Mantis is around 4–5 years old, a wonderful mix of American Staffordshire Terrier and Pit Bull Terrier. She balances playful bursts with couch-cuddling stretches, lives for walks, gnawing a favorite bone, or simply curling up near her person. She does well with other dogs if introduced properly, enjoys kids, and is both house and crate trained. No cats, though—she needs a feline-free home. Watching her get excited for a meet-and-greet only to return broke our hearts. She’s more than earned her happily ever after. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
