About Kira
đ Important Information ⢠All of our dogs are currently in foster homes in Mexico đ˛đ˝. They are listed as being in Sherwood, Oregon because that is where our rescue is officially based for adoption purposes. ⢠To keep our dogs safe and reduce unnecessary stress, we only fly dogs to Oregon once we have an approved adopter. âď¸ After approval, we coordinate the flight directly to Portland (PDX), with your new family member typically arriving within 2â4 weeks. đ About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative) Over 18 million dogs live on Mexicoâs streets. Our organization works at the source through rescue, spay/neuter programs, and adoption into loving Oregon homes. Since 2019: đś 460+ dogs adopted ⢠âď¸ 3,500+ dogs spayed/neutered đ Interested in adopting? PLEASE FILL OUT APPLICATION AT www.bapbr.org â ď¸ Weâre unable to respond to requests that come through Petfinder ************************** đž Meet KIRA đž ⢠AGE: ~ 4-5 months old ⢠WEIGHT: ~21 lbs ⢠BREED(S): Belgian Shepherd mix (our best guess since theyâre rescues!) ⢠GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dogâs space, belongings, and food. ⢠HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As a dog rescued off the street and currently living outdoors or in foster homes with tile surfaces, they'll need some time to be 100% housebroken. Most of our dogs adapt to a potty routine within 1-2 weeks with consistent training. Kira and her sister Gala were puppies found locked in an empty lot with no food, no water, and two aggressive pit bulls that kept them cornered and terrified. A neighbor reported hearing them crying, trapped in a situation they couldn't escape. When their rescuer arrived and approached the gate, both puppies ran straight to her, desperate for help. "They were so thin," she remembers. "But the second I got close, they were affectionate. Like they'd been waiting for someone to finally see them." That was a few months ago. Since then, Kira has transformed into a joyful, playful puppy. Kira is more reserved than her sister. When she meets someone new, she needs timeâshe'll hang back, watch carefully, make sure you're safe before she approaches. It's not fear exactly, just careful consideration. She's a thoughtful puppy, the kind who assesses situations before diving in. But once she decides you're trustworthy, she opens up completely. Tail wagging, leaning against your legs, ready to love. With people she knows, Kira is pure joy. Those big shepherd ears perk up at every sound, that lean body is ready for adventure, and those intelligent eyes are always watching, learning. She loves to run, wrestle with other dogs, chase toys. This is a working breed puppy, which means she's got both the energy and the smarts that need daily outlets. She's been around cats and is tolerant of them with proper introductions. She's wonderful with other dogsâloves having playmates. And she's great with kids, gentle despite her enthusiasm. What Kira needs is a patient, active family who understands what Belgian Malinois mix puppies require. Someone who won't rush her when she's being cautious but will give her the time and space to build trust. She will thrive with daily exerciseâwalks, play sessions, mental stimulation through training. With the right family, she'll become the most devoted, trainable companion. After being locked up with no food or water, after spending her earliest weeks scared and hungryâKira deserves a home where her cautious nature is respected, her intelligence is challenged, and her loyalty is returned tenfold. Are you ready for a smart, thoughtful, devoted companion who'll take her time trusting youâbut once she does, will be by your side for every adventure? ************************* đ Ready to apply?
