About Sophia
Sophia’s story started on the streets of Chapala, Mexico. She was found alone as a tiny, flea-covered puppy—a rarity since most street pups have at least their mother or siblings. Life as a stray shaped her: Sophia has an independent streak and isn’t big on cuddling. Try to pick her up, and she’d rather get right back down. She’s never been mean about it; it just isn’t her thing, at least for now. She’s still a baby, just six months old, and there’s room for her to grow in every way. Sophia really lights up around other dogs. Her playful side comes out fully—chasing, wrestling, and running until she drops. She’s vocal, too, with a high-pitched bark set off by excitement or anything new, from another animal to passing horses. It’s unique, and prospective adopters should expect a talkative companion. She’s adapted to house training but will need time as she figures out new routines, especially after a life spent on dirt and tile floors. Food is important to Sophia; she eats with real gusto, maybe because hunger is still fresh in her memory. She’s excellent in the car, loves watching the world fly by, and explores her environment with curiosity. Kids are fine by her, so long as they respect her boundaries, and she gets along well with both other dogs and cats. What Sophia needs most is an adopter who respects her quirks and independence, can offer stability, training, and lots of play with other dogs. There’s real potential here for her to blossom—or just be herself, confidently and forever. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
