About Teddy

📌 Important Information • All of our dogs are currently in foster homes in Mexico 🇲🇽. They are listed as being in Oregon because that's where our rescue is officially based for adoption purposes. • To keep our dogs safe and reduce unnecessary stress, we only fly dogs to Oregon once we have an approved adopter. ✈️ After approval, we coordinate the flight directly to Portland (PDX), with your new family member typically arriving within 2–4 weeks. 💛 About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative) Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico’s streets. Our organization works at the source through rescue, spay/neuter programs, and adoption into loving Oregon homes. Since 2019: 🐶 460+ dogs adopted • ✂️ 3,500+ dogs spayed/neutered 👉 Interested in adopting? PLEASE FILL OUT APPLICATION AT www.bapbr.org ⚠️ We’re unable to respond to requests that come through Petfinder ************************** 🐾 Meet TEDDY 🐾 • AGE: ~4 years old • WEIGHT: ~4.4 lbs • BREED(S): Chihuahua (our best guess since they’re rescues!) • GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food. • HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As a dog rescued off the street and currently living outdoors or in foster homes with tile surfaces, they'll need some time to be 100% housebroken. Most of our dogs adapt to a potty routine within 1-2 weeks with consistent training. Teddy was cornered in the street by a group of children. They were hitting him, yelling at him, and he had nowhere to run. Just a tiny Chihuahua, maybe four pounds, trapped and terrified. Someone heard the commotion and intervened, pulling him away from the kids and getting him to safety. When he arrived at his foster home, Teddy was shut down. He cowered from everyone—adults, children, even the other dogs. His coat was rough and matted from neglect, his body tense with fear. Every movement made him flinch. Every voice made him shrink. "He was so scared of everything," his foster remembers. "I wasn't sure if he'd ever trust again." But Teddy had a choice to make: stay scared forever, or risk trusting one more time. Somehow, against all odds, he chose trust. Now? Teddy runs up to greet people. He plays with the other dogs in the house. He lets you hug him, pet him, hold him—and his favorite way to say thank you is with gentle kisses. It's his language: "I'm grateful. I'm happy." The most remarkable part? He's not afraid of children anymore. The very beings who hurt him so badly—he's let that go. He's gentle with kids now, patient and sweet. He didn't just survive what happened to him; he decided not to let it define him. Teddy loves belly rubs, walks around the neighborhood, playtime with his toys. He's learned his name and comes when called. He's house-trained and well-behaved. He's even learned to do his business outside, proud of himself every time. "He's so loving," his foster says. "He just wants someone to hold him and talk to him. That's when he's happiest." At four years old and barely over four pounds, Teddy is the definition of a lap dog. He wants to be your constant companion, the little shadow who follows you from room to room, the warm presence curled up next to you on the couch. What Teddy needs is someone who'll pamper him the way he deserves. Someone who'll show him that hands are for gentle pets, not violence. That voices are for kind words, not yelling. That home is where you're safe, loved, and never have to be afraid again. After being beaten by children, after arriving traumatized and broken—Teddy chose forgiveness. He chose love. Now he's waiting for someone to choose him back. Are you ready to give this tiny, brave soul the soft, safe, love-filled life he's proven he deserves? ************************* 📝 Ready to apply?
