About Raul
📌 Important Information • All of our dogs are currently in foster homes in Mexico 🇲🇽. They are listed as being in Sherwood, Oregon because that is where our rescue is officially based for adoption purposes. • To keep our dogs safe and reduce unnecessary stress, we only fly dogs to Oregon once we have an approved adopter. ✈️ After approval, we coordinate the flight directly to Portland (PDX), with your new family member typically arriving within 2–4 weeks. 💛 About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative) Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico’s streets. Our organization works at the source through rescue, spay/neuter programs, and adoption into loving Oregon homes. Since 2019: 🐶 460+ dogs adopted • ✂️ 3,500+ dogs spayed/neutered 👉 Interested in adopting? PLEASE FILL OUT APPLICATION AT www.bapbr.org ⚠️ We’re unable to respond to requests that come through Petfinder ************************** 🐾 Meet RAUL 🐾 • AGE: ~1.5 years old • WEIGHT: ~19 lbs • BREED(S): Terrier-Maltese mix (our best guess since they’re rescues!) • GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food. • HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As a dog rescued off the street and currently living outdoors or in foster homes with tile surfaces, they'll need some time to be 100% housebroken. Most of our dogs adapt to a potty routine within 1-2 weeks with consistent training. Raúl was found wandering around a school—dirty, thin, completely disoriented. No one knew where he came from or how long he'd been on his own. He was just a scruffy little dog trying to figure out where he belonged. When he was rescued, Raúl was scared and unsure. But it didn't take long for his true personality to emerge: pure, unfiltered joy. Now at a healthy weight with that adorable scruffy coat cleaned up, Raúl is a ball of energy and happiness. He's playful with absolutely everything—other dogs, toys, balls, you. He loves to chase things around the house, doing zoomies from room to room, grabbing a toy and shaking it wildly before dropping it at your feet for another round. "He just loves to play," his foster says, laughing. "He's got enough energy and joy to light up a whole town." Raúl is a bit shy when he first meets someone new. He'll hang back, observe, make sure you're safe before approaching. But once he warms up—which doesn't take long—he's absolutely lovely. Affectionate, playful, always ready for the next adventure. He doesn't need long daily walks or marathon exercise sessions. He just needs playtime. Indoor fetch, wrestling with other dogs, chasing balls, playing tug-of-war. Give him outlets for that energy, and he's perfectly content. Then he'll crash for a nap and recharge for the next play session. What makes Raúl special is his joyful spirit. Despite being abandoned and left to fend for himself, he's not damaged or fearful. He's just... happy. Ready to love. Ready to play. Ready to be part of a family that'll appreciate his enthusiasm for life. What Raúl needs is an attentive family who'll spend time playing with him and showering him with love. He doesn't necessarily need an ultra-active lifestyle or a big yard—he just needs people who'll engage with him. Who'll throw the ball, wrestle with him on the floor, let him be the joyful, playful dog he is. After being found lost and alone at a school—Raúl is ready for his real home. One where play is part of the daily routine. Where his happiness is contagious. Where someone sees his boundless energy not as a challenge but as a gift. Are you ready for a scruffy, joyful companion who'll fill your days with play, your heart with laughter, and your life with the kind of uncomplicated happiness only a dog can bring? ************************* 📝 Ready to apply?
