About Raya
Raya’s story starts with hardship—she arrived as a stray showing old urine stains and scars that hinted at tough times. Likely a rat terrier and chihuahua mix, she’s about 4 years old and is a small package at 9.5 lbs. Since coming in, Raya has bounced back after a spay, benign mass removal, and double knee surgery. Her right hind leg might always be a little stiff, but it doesn’t slow her down: she scales stairs, hops on the couch, and spins for her meals. She’ll bark at people or dogs outside but is focused when a treat is involved and redirects well. Raya has been reliably house-trained when kept on schedule. Though she’s coexisted with other dogs, she’s shown crate resource-guarding and clearly prefers being an only pet—no other dogs or kids. When introduced to a cat, she chose to ignore it. She needs a home where she claims all the attention and doesn’t share her people. Her adopter should ideally live nearby so they can meet her and ask questions face-to-face before making it official. How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Raya is small and adapts well to limited outdoor spaces like a small yard or regular walks. She doesn’t require extensive space but appreciates daily walks and safe areas to stretch her legs.
