About Lexington

Lexington, known affectionately as Wicket in his foster home, is a spirited, affectionate small dog with a lot going for him. About 3 years old and around 17 lbs, he's back with Mostly Mutts after an eight-month adoption that didn't work out—he can't live with cats. Now in a foster home, Lexington is thriving with slow introductions to other mellow small dogs, but he needs a dog-savvy adopter who understands that he values his personal space. He's shown he can coexist with certain dogs, but he's just as happy being the only pet. Cats are absolutely a no-go due to his strong prey drive. Older kids are best for Lexington, as he once bit a young child over resource guarding and needs a home where boundaries are respected. Personality-wise, Lexington is equal parts cuddler and goofball. He's playful, loving, and thrives on human interaction—he’ll leap up for snuggles or try to fit in your lap. His mellow moments shine through, too, as he enjoys basking in the sun or making nests out of blankets and toys. He knows several commands, walks well on a leash, and loves soft toys, tennis balls, and treats of all kinds. He does suffer from separation anxiety, so a house (not an apartment) with people home much of the day is the right fit. Lexington is house trained for "#1" but will need continued positive training on "#2." He’s neutered, vaccinated, and has no current medical concerns.
