About Millie

Millie came to the rescue in tough shape, battling a serious case of pneumonia. Even then, her resilience was clear, and as soon as her health stabilized, her spirited and loving nature became obvious. Around 8 years old but with a playful streak, Millie weighs in at a very manageable 14 lbs. She fits right in with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys playing when the mood hits. Most of the time, she's tolerant and relaxed, but she’ll grumble if another dog invades her space. Walks are a favorite—she’s just as happy walking as she is getting a lift for part of the way, always eager to soak up the view. House-trained and crate-trained (though she doesn't really need the crate because she's trustworthy), Millie is never far when there are pets or affection to go around. She dislikes the cold but loves lounging in the sun and spending time outdoors. Her energy is moderate: she’ll happily chew on bones or greet neighbors and passing dogs with a bark or two. Millie lives with chronic bronchitis, and she manages it well with twice-daily inhaler treatments, which run about $100 a month for medication. The cough is most noticeable in the morning or with excitement. Because her adopter will need to learn how to give her the breathing treatments, she can only be adopted by someone within driving distance of Greensboro, NC. Affectionate, lively, and a little bit spunky, Millie is a joy to have around. She’s ready for someone who appreciates her cheerful presence and is committed to her care.
