About Os Baloo

Click apply to start the adoption process. Baloo is a gentle giant searching for a patient, loving home where he can settle in and feel secure. This four-year-old large Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix is being urgently rehomed due to family medical circumstances that mean he cannot join his family in their new apartment. Baloo is an intact male who is crate trained, house trained, and knows basic commands like sit. He gets along well with cats, ignores small birds, and although he can be pushy with other dogs, he is not aggressive. Baloo hasnโ€™t spent time with children, and with new people, heโ€™s initially aloof and shyโ€”he may even refuse treats from strangers at first. With time and patience, he blossoms: Baloo loves walks and adores cuddling on the couch once heโ€™s comfortable and trusts you. His ideal family will be understanding and give him time to decompress in a low-stress environment. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Os Baloo

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mixes thrive in homes with plenty of space and secure fencing, ideally with a large yard or property. They were bred as livestock guardian dogs and appreciate environments where they have room to move and feel a sense of purpose.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

These breeds do best with ample outdoor space, such as a large fenced yard or a rural setting. They are not well suited to apartment life due to their size and need for room to roam.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

When properly socialized, Anatolian Shepherds and Great Pyrenees mixes can be gentle and protective with children. However, their large size means supervision is important to prevent accidental knock-overs.
