About Apollo
Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! When so many dogs needed help after a hoarding situation in New Mexico, Apollo stood out as one of the most in-need cases—a gentle Great Pyrenees boy overcoming major challenges in his new foster home. Having spent his life on a chain, Apollo suffered significant lupus but has made inspiring progress thanks to the patience and love of his foster family. Apollo is a beautiful, sweet, and gentle spirit, especially quiet for his breed, with a clear preference for women—his foster mom is his greatest comfort and gets all his snuggles. While he's respectful around all family members, he truly bonds most with calm, nurturing women. Living next to other dogs, Apollo has taken time to get used to their presence, and still feels wary around some, so a peaceful environment where neighbor dogs are friendly is important for his comfort. Completely house trained from the beginning, and excellent on a leash, Apollo is easy to care for inside the home. He is polite with children, but too much youthful energy can overwhelm him, so a home with older kids or none at all is strongly preferred. Apollo has blossomed with calm, confident female dogs—playdates help him come out of his shell, and he may thrive with the right canine companion. A patient, understanding family is essential for Apollo, especially those familiar with dogs coming from hoarding backgrounds. He needs to progress at his own pace, surrounded by empathy and ongoing support. He is currently being fostered in Utah. Your new best friend is just one click away.
